About Us

Sunset Hill is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty within a protected coastal zone which legally requires that all structures must be temporary and that all land within 200 metres of the sea shore must be returned to its original condition every monsoon season. These regulations have , limited the over development which has ruined other popular destinations and maintained the natural beauty of south Goa’s coastal zone - ensuring that its pristine beaches remain amongst the best that India has to offer.

Once terraced for use in rice cultivation, the hill that now houses ‘Sunset Hill’ has lain fallow for over 50 years, in which time it had become overgrown with many varieties of plant life and jungle fauna, becoming a haven for sea eagles, hawks, monkeys and an array of colourful butterflies, which are often to be seen in unusually close proximity. The hill’s elevation offers the most stunning views of the surrounding countryside and coastline with westward vistas overlooking the Arabian Sea while the foothills of the Western Ghats mountain range encircle it from the east.

The aim was to effectively marry the hi-tech with the ecological and sustainable - showcasing low energy LED lights, rechargable fans, and Wi-Fi internet, while utilising composting toilets and grey water systems from showers and sinks which are diverted for watering specific plants growing in the vicinity.
