Our Philosophy
Our vision is to develop Sunset Hill as a beacon for sustainable tourism and development in South Goa, to inspire both visitors and the local community. We have begun this journey by putting in place a number of initiatives aimed at upholding the eco cause such as:
• Ecologically designed accommodation incorporating local materials
• Grey water systems
• Composting toilets
• Low energy lighting
• Recycling
• Tree planting
• Preservation and maintenance of existing biodiversity
In order to preserve the natural beauty of the area, we have been working with the existing natural vegetation, planting additional trees whilst not disturbing any of the existing trees. All structures are temporary most often using locally sourced sustainable materials, so that the land can be returned to its natural state during the monsoon period.
Our vision has been to create a garden like effect from the jungle, allowing the natural biodiversity to flourish, by implementing planting initiatives aimed at enhancing the beauty of the natural ecosystem. We will also work at developing links with the local communities to provide training and to present new options for organic food production and mutually supportive business initiatives and raise awareness of ecological and sustainable practices.
